Hello Phantom fans and welcome to part four of the Dumpin' Chase Podcast 2026 main camp recap. This is one of our favorite camp traditions, bringing together the previous season's tender signing with this year's tender. We welcome back Logan Anderson, who last season sat for his tender interview with Jack Hextall. This year he is joined by new phantom tender, forward Austin Hall. If you didn't make it down to Princecape Arena, you really miss the show Hall put on during the weekend. He is somebody that will quickly become a fan favorite in Youngstown. So with that, here is part four with Logan Anderson and Austin Hall. Back here at Bubba's Burgers here at Phantoms Main Camp, we are now talking with Logan Anderson and this year's Phantoms Tender, Austin Hall. Logan, I just told you a little bit ago this is your third appearance on the show. You you now have friend of the show status. So congratulations.
SPEAKER_03Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
SPEAKER_01You you know why we have this pairing last year at Main Camp. Uh, the first time we really got to talk to you, you were paired up with uh Jax Hextall. So last year's tender, this year's tender. Now you're the guy on the other side of this. Uh you're last year's tender, Austin. You're this year's tender. So Austa, I'll start with you. Uh, like what was the process like for you? Um kind of going through the tender process and then uh signing with Youngstown. Um, you know, it was really, really short actually.
SPEAKER_02After uh Nationals and OHL Cup, they kind of reached out to me and I was right away with them. And yeah, by what about a week?
SPEAKER_01I signed the tender and got everything rolling. Okay. Uh, so how's your week at camp been here coming in and uh doing the whole USHL thing now? It's been good. Uh getting to know all the guys, it's great. And playing some high-pace hockey, it's really fun. Uh, Logan, coming in, coming into your uh second year now with the team. Um, how is this coming into this camp? How has this been different for you than coming in last year?
SPEAKER_03It's been a little different. I mean, it was obviously my first year. I was a little bit nervous coming in, and now I mean, second year, uh nerves are pretty much gone. Um, so it's been good. It's been fun.
SPEAKER_01Does it fit, you know, going from year one to two, just year two, you're like the grizzled veteran now. There's so many young guys here this week. Yeah. You're just you're the old veteran now.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I am.
SPEAKER_01So I mean, have you I mean, have you had conversations with Austin? I mean, you know, coming in, just like you know, being new to this process for him, you went through it last year. Like, well, I mean, like, what have like those conversations been like with him, just kind of getting him prepared?
SPEAKER_03I've just been talking about like how the year is gonna go and like what to expect because you know, Jack Hexal really helped me with that uh last year. So I want to do the same thing and help him out as much as I can for what he can expect.
SPEAKER_01Uh so Austin, I mean, how has Logan been kind of mentoring you through this process?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, he's been great, you know. Kind of take me under his wing, tell me what I can expect, you know, give me some tips and stuff, and yeah, he's been great.
SPEAKER_01Have you guys quite got to like the uh BT and Millsey point yet with each other?
SPEAKER_03Or no, they're on another level. I mean, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Please, let's don't don't don't take it that far. No. At one point, uh couples counseling was suggested for the two of them. So I can see that. Yeah, so Logan, I mean, how are you feeling about the week?
SPEAKER_03I'm feeling good. I'm feeling I'm pretty good. I mean, it's been an awesome week. You know, games have been going pretty well, and uh got the all-star game tomorrow, so I'll go all good as well.
SPEAKER_01Now, how have you, I mean, you know, the season doesn't end the way you want it to, obviously. Um, you know, wish you could have taken it a lot further. What what have you kind of been doing uh since the season ended? Kind of get your mind off of that, you know, take some time off and you know, be jumping back into it now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, after the unfortunate loss, you know, I mean, I've been thinking about it a lot. I mean, and then to get my mind off of it. I've been back home, you know, enjoying the sunshine and golfing pretty much. There you can. Uh so yeah, that's been pretty fun.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I don't know. I mean, it's it's felt like Florida weather this week, so yeah, it's pretty nice out. We call it humid, you call it nice. Yeah. So Austin, uh, you know, you play, you know, you're playing youth, you're playing 14U, 15U, you know, everybody's the same age. Yeah. How is kind of that flip been when you're coming in here, you know, and you're playing guys three, four years older than you now?
SPEAKER_02Uh, it's yeah, it's hard. Um I mean getting a little need to get a little stronger. I'm kind of getting pushed off the puck a little easy, but it's kind of what I expected and need to put a little strength on.
SPEAKER_01So that's what I'm working on right now. So you've you've had you've had those moments where you're like, okay, here's what I need to work on. Have you had moments where it's like uh where you've been like, oh okay, I'm actually gonna fit into this. Has Tommy started like dictating your routines yet?
SPEAKER_02No, not yet, but I mean, yeah, I mean, I think I could play in this, you know. I've been making some plays, and yeah, I can play in here.
SPEAKER_01We saw that. Um yeah, we did yeah, we just had you guys here in the uh first all-star game. Um you know, Austin I told you right before I recorded, uh, hell of a shootout goal there. Thank you. Um I mean, so in that scenario right there, is that pre your that move you put on, was that pre-planned or are you just kind of seeing what the goalie's doing?
SPEAKER_02No, I kind of just go in a shootout to seeing what the goalie does, but uh yeah, just see what the goalie does, and I'll try to make my move to get him to bite and then go around him.
SPEAKER_01So I know this is never something I seem to ask because obviously with the running clock, you guys do penalties different. Um, you know, in these types of game. I mean, do you guys like that kind of just like that quick little shootout in in st instead of a power play or I mean it's not bad.
SPEAKER_03I mean, it keeps the pace going like with the game. I mean, the power play, I mean, would be a little nice, you know. Uh, but the shootout it's pretty good too.
SPEAKER_01Now the f the final all-star game you guys would be doing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, power play, I believe. Because you're yeah, you're running three periods. Yes.
SPEAKER_01So, I mean, Logan, you had, you know, your you know, kind of, I guess, like your development year last year, you know, getting your feet wet in the league and everything like that. I mean, what are what are kind of your goals coming into this season, coming into year two?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, my goals, I mean, I gotta produce a lot more. I mean, it's my draft year, so I really I want to have a really good year and uh like just produce a lot and like get a lot of points.
SPEAKER_01And Austin, you know, being your first year in the league, um, I mean, what what are like I mean, is there any goals you've kind of set for yourself, just uh as far as what you want to see out of yourself this season?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I want to see me produce. Uh yeah, I want to see me put up a couple points and kind of make a name for myself in the USHL.
SPEAKER_01So yeah. So yeah, coming down to the end here, you guys will have uh one more game tomorrow. Once you guys are done, you're out of here, kinda what what's the rest of the summer look like for you?
SPEAKER_03Uh the rest of the summer for me is looking like a lot of training. Um obviously want to get like as big and fast and strong like for next year and be like be ready to go.
SPEAKER_02What about you? Yeah, for me it's definitely a lot of training uh in the gym and putting a little weight on, trying to put around like seven pounds. So yeah, in the gym and skating, working on my skating ability. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I I I think eating here at Bubba's this week, I've I will put on my seven pounds before the weekend's ever. Don't worry, once you get older, it's a lot easier to put that kind of weight on. Alright, so before we let you guys out of here, and I mean, obviously, you know, we're gonna have you back on during the season, everything like that. So in the meantime, um, any friend, um, any family friends, anything might be listening in. Uh, like Austin, do you want to give him a shout out?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I like to give him a shout out to my mom and dad, you know. Uh, they're great. And yeah, I hope they'll listen to this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, good good job on mentioning both there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'd go mom and dad as well. Do a lot for me. I'd also like to shout out my brother. Um, he's been great. He's been helping me as well.
SPEAKER_01Now, I I didn't even think to ask before before we go, one more I didn't even think to ask. Um, Spencer's your cousin, correct?
SPEAKER_03Spencer, yes, he's my cousin. He's not here this week. He's not, no. I don't know. I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_01What's going on with that?
SPEAKER_03I'm not sure. Um, I was kind of talking to the coaches and they don't really know either. I was I mean, talking to my uncle, which is his dad, and I mean, he's been kind of odd, kind of strange. So I I don't I don't know what's going on with that.
SPEAKER_01Um I'm imagining there's a I'm hoping there's a good bit of sarcasm going on here.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, a little bit.
SPEAKER_01A little bit. Um I mean, how excited are you for I mean him coming in here and getting to play with him?
SPEAKER_03Um, I'm really excited. Uh it'll be a lot of fun. I mean, you guys do get along, right? Yeah. Okay, yeah, of course. We get along great. Um, so yeah, that'll be fun for uh my cousin.
SPEAKER_01All right. Um, guys, thank you so much. Uh good luck the rest of this weekend, and I can't wait to see you guys here in August and September.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, of course. Thank you. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01And there you go. Massive thanks to Logan and Austin for hanging out with us and having a chat. And I will point out that I was mistaken. This was Logan's fourth time on the show. I forgot to count him calling in during our draft live stream last summer. So I was one appearance late in giving him friend of the show status. But in the words of Cheech Marin and Ghostbusters 2, when Titanic arrived at New York Harbor, better late than never. Anyways, coming up in part five, we welcome back two of our favorites: Assistant General Manager Jeff Cox, and Assistant General Manager and the Phantoms Director of Scouting, the Minnesota man himself, Timmy Parkos. Stay tuned.
